Responsibilities
- Own software manufacturing test activities in production, including station uptime, operator usability, and factory throughput.
- Develop PLC-integrated station control software using Modbus TCP for actuation, interlocks, and sensor acquisition.
- Build containerized station simulations, virtual CAN replays, and device simulators for hardware-free development and regression testing.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing test suites in Python and C# for hardware control, sequencing, instrument automation, operator interfaces, and services.
- Integrate test applications with sensors, DAQs, programmable power supplies, electronic loads, and vehicle compute hardware.
- Implement UART, CAN, RS-485, and RS-232 communications to command, flash, and validate devices under test.
- Deploy, configure, and debug test systems on Linux/Unix using terminal tools, SSH, and network debugging utilities.
- Use Nix and NixOS to create reproducible development and production test environments.
- Define test requirements, coverage, APIs, and pass/fail limits with hardware and firmware engineers during product development.
- Automate PCBA functional, full-system, and environmental stress screening tests.
- Perform root-cause analysis for electrical, firmware, and software manufacturing test issues.
- Integrate test stations with databases and Manufacturing Execution Systems while maintaining hardware traceability.
- Develop operator interfaces, error handling, and troubleshooting logs.
- Improve test sequences, cycle times, and coverage without compromising quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of relevant industry experience as a Software Manufacturing Test Engineer or in an equivalent hardware test automation, lab automation, or manufacturing software role.
- Strong Python programming skills for test automation, device control, and data handling.
- Working knowledge of C# and .NET for test applications, operator interfaces, or system services.
- Strong Linux/Unix knowledge, including terminal use, shell scripting, SSH, and network configuration and debugging.
- Hands-on experience with UART, CAN, and RS-485/RS-232 protocols.
- Experience controlling programmable power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, electronic loads, and DAQ devices through software.
- Ability to diagnose hardware-software boundary issues using logs, terminal output, and basic bench tools.
- Experience integrating manufacturing test platforms with MES and database backends.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Preferred experience with Nix and NixOS, C, SQL, HTML, and CSS.
- Preferred experience with contract manufacturers, aerospace, defense, or automotive hardware, environmental stress testing, and protocols including Ethernet, USB, PCIe, and SPI/I2C.
- An active U.S. Secret or Top Secret clearance is preferred.

- The role offers a base salary range of $146,000–$194,000 USD; competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
