Base Salary
$251k - $310k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy production-grade agentic AI systems for complex evaluation challenges.
- Develop robust automated evaluation frameworks and objective metrics for continuously measuring the accuracy, safety, and reliability of non-deterministic AI agents.
- Automate the building and scaling of difficult evaluation problems that limit Waymo’s operational scale.
- Define technical strategy and drive execution across multiple teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven technical leadership designing, building, evaluating, and deploying novel agent-based AI solutions into production.
- Deep hands-on expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning, autonomous agents, multi-agent orchestration systems, and integrating LLMs with external tools and APIs.
- Typically 7+ years of software engineering experience focused significantly on architecting and building large-scale, complex systems.
- Ability to define technical strategy, influence senior leadership, and drive execution across multiple teams.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- PhD in Computer Science or a related field specializing in AI/ML is preferred.
- Experience with agentic frameworks, knowledge graphs, reasoning engines, C++, production-grade services, autonomous-vehicle simulation, testing, or evaluation is preferred.
- Familiarity with Google’s or Waymo’s internal AI/ML platforms and infrastructure is preferred.
