Base Salary
$177k - $365k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize Pinterest’s exabyte-scale data lake storage platform.
- Lead complex data lake storage and metadata management initiatives from architecture through execution.
- Collaborate with data, ML/AI, analytics, and infrastructure teams to develop storage and metadata technologies.
- Build storage capabilities for high-throughput ML/AI workloads, schema evolution, and large-scale column backfills.
- Shape the technical direction of scalable, reliable, and efficient big data storage systems.
- Contribute to open source communities and technologies including Apache Iceberg, Spark, and Flink.
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant industry experience designing and building large-scale production distributed systems.
- Strong experience with scalable storage, metadata, or data lake infrastructure.
- Experience supporting large-scale ML/AI or analytics workloads, including high-throughput data access, schema evolution, and large-scale column backfills.
- Deep knowledge of distributed systems, data storage systems, and production infrastructure.
- Experience with Apache Iceberg, Spark, Flink, Presto/Trino, Hive, or similar big data systems.
- Proficiency in Java, Scala, or Python.
- Ability to lead complex technical initiatives and influence architecture across teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
Benefits
