Responsibilities
- Own test strategy and automation across backend services and web features.
- Build and maintain scalable automated test suites covering API, microservice, and web UI testing.
- Automate unit, component, integration, and contract tests and integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Design test plans, assess risk, file defects, and report quality status and test results.
- Partner with software engineers to shift testing left and improve product quality.
- Use AI-assisted coding and testing tools such as Claude and Copilot for test authoring, triage, and coverage while applying human verification.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software quality engineering or testing with a strong automation focus.
- Hands-on automation experience across backend/API and web, with experience in API or microservice testing and web UI automation.
- Proficiency in at least one object-oriented language, such as Java, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or Go, or an equivalent language.
- Experience with REST/JSON testing, test plans, risk assessment, defect reporting, scalable test suites, CI/CD pipelines, and version control.
- Experience with Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress for web UI automation.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle practices, testing methodologies, and the test pyramid.
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Comfort using AI or GenAI-assisted development and testing tools such as Claude or Copilot.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting quality status and risk to technical and non-technical partners.
- Preferred qualifications include Playwright and cross-browser testing, contract testing tools, service virtualization, mocking, performance/load testing, observability, monitoring, containerized test environments, cloud-based test infrastructure, Kubernetes, AWS, operating systems, networking, and web/service build and release processes.
