Staff Software Engineer - Automation & Build Systems - Unpublished R&D Product
Riot GamesResponsibilities
- Design and implement large-scale automation and build tooling across a distributed server network.
- Lead architecture requirements, technical design, and implementation while shaping technical direction and engineering standards.
- Partner with technical leadership in Sydney and Los Angeles to develop high-performance systems.
- Collaborate with design and other disciplines to deliver content creation, stability, and testing systems.
- Promote best practices for build and automation systems and mentor engineers.
- Gather requirements, plan technical initiatives, and deliver robust, scalable, and performant systems across time zones.
- Troubleshoot live-service issues through an on-call rotation.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience, including experience delivering live or shipped games or products.
- Expert proficiency in C and C++, strong debugging skills, and knowledge of common game and software design patterns.
- Experience developing real-time online multiplayer games with Unreal Engine.
- Expertise in automation tooling, performance tooling, build and release pipelines, and/or telemetry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is desired.
- Experience with MMO or large-scale online game development, especially build systems and automation, is desired.
- Experience managing requirements and improving game development pipelines for efficiency and scalability is desired.
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine 5, Blueprint visual scripting, and Iris is desired.
- Experience working with mid-sized engineering teams and disciplines such as QA, Production, and Tech Design is desired.
- Prior experience with global-scale game development or online services is desired.
