Responsibilities
- Define and maintain an organization-wide quality risk model for the full streaming chain.
- Establish release constraints, quality gates, and the definition of releasable software across backend, middleware, and web, TV, and mobile clients.
- Design staged rollout, canary, and rollback strategies in partnership with Engineering and SRE/Ops.
- Set test architecture principles, ownership boundaries, automation standards, test data practices, environments, and reporting patterns.
- Partner on quality incidents, production feedback, escape analysis, monitoring, gate changes, and rollout improvements.
- Define standards for AI-assisted testing, risk-based test selection, failure triage, incident analysis, and AI-authored code quality.
- Embed risk-based testing, quality practices in pull requests, multi-platform client testing, and lightweight quality standards into engineering teams.
- Mentor and influence teams and participate in design reviews where quality risk is material.
Requirements
- Senior individual contributor track record in quality engineering or equivalent for complex, multi-service products, ideally in streaming, media, or high-availability consumer platforms.
- Experience designing whole-stack quality strategy for backend services, configuration or policy layers, and multi-platform clients.
- Ability to define and implement test architecture covering test pyramids, ownership, cross-stack integration, contract, and playback-style validation.
- Strong senior-level software engineering skills, including production-quality coding, design for testability, and automation engineering.
- Deep familiarity with CI/CD and experience making pipelines faster and more reliable.
- Hands-on experience applying AI to quality engineering with sound judgment about risk reduction and noise.
- Experience partnering on incidents and converting production failure modes into durable quality improvements.
- Practical judgment about automation scope and maintaining reliable, non-brittle test suites.
- Bonus experience with video ingest, encoding, packaging, playback, or multi-tenant configuration and policy surfaces.
- Experience working across web, TV, and mobile client quality risks, including device, operating-system, and app-store constraints.
