Base Salary
$190k - $230k/yr
Responsibilities
- Manage, mentor, and technically lead a small team of software engineers.
- Write production-grade Java backend code for services, pipelines, and APIs.
- Lead system design for ingestion pipelines, entity resolution, enrichment workflows, and search-indexing strategies.
- Own code quality, architecture decisions, performance, reliability, observability, and production stability.
- Collaborate with the engineering manager, product, and partner teams on requirements and technical direction.
- Drive technical-debt reduction, engineering best practices, and technical excellence.
- Own feature and release estimates, resource allocation, work distribution, and delivery against sprint and release goals.
- Ensure releases and features meet engineering architecture, quality, and reliability standards.
- Build robust and scalable software systems using cloud technology.
- Establish best practices around software development, microservices, and DevOps.
- Support company initiatives and values through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
- 7+ years of backend software engineering experience in Java on production systems at scale.
- 5+ years of cloud infrastructure experience, with GCP preferred and AWS acceptable.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without needing visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Must be able to work onsite in the Seattle office.
- Preferred experience includes technical leadership in a small, high-ownership team.
- Preferred experience with distributed data pipelines and streaming systems such as Kafka.
- Preferred hands-on experience with Elasticsearch or comparable search/indexing platforms.
- Preferred expertise with PostgreSQL or relational databases at meaningful data volumes.
- Preferred experience with large-scale data ingestion, transformation, enrichment, entity resolution, deduplication, or data-quality pipelines.
- Preferred production experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong system design experience with distributed systems, data modeling, API design, and fault tolerance.
- Experience using AI productivity tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude.
- Object-oriented design experience, including Domain Driven Design, service-oriented architectures, distributed systems, testing, CI/CD, and Agile.
