Responsibilities
- Develop and implement full-stack software features with minimal supervision.
- Resolve complex technical issues, production defects, technical debt, and hotfixes.
- Write maintainable, documented code and conduct peer code reviews.
- Create unit tests, support automated testing, and validate coverage for critical components.
- Participate in sprint planning, Agile ceremonies, retrospectives, design reviews, demos, and discovery sessions.
- Translate business and functional requirements into technical designs, user stories, and implementation plans.
- Collaborate with product owners, designers, analysts, QA, architects, senior engineers, infrastructure, DevOps, security, support, and vendor teams.
- Support system upgrades, patches, platform modernization, cloud-native development, and deployment integration.
- Contribute to architecture, scalability, performance, accessibility, security, privacy, and sustainability improvements.
- Prepare technical documentation, process diagrams, implementation notes, release notes, and user-facing materials.
- Communicate technical constraints, trade-offs, timelines, blockers, risks, and status to stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers or interns and share knowledge through demos, documentation, and training.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a job-related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- Three years of work-related experience in software development using modern languages and frameworks.
- Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, APIs, front-end frameworks, RESTful API development, WCAG, security best practices, cloud environments, and CI/CD tools.
- Programming experience with languages such as Java, Python, C#, and JavaScript/TypeScript, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and Agile and DevOps practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively on production-level systems and Agile teams.
- Valid Texas driver’s license and good driving record, with a 10-year driving history required.
- Ability to pass and maintain eligibility for a national fingerprint-based records check when required for criminal justice database access.
- Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, AWS Developer Associate, a similar cloud certification, or DevOps Foundation Certification.
