Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, develop, test, deploy, configure, document, and deliver software solutions.
- Define application requirements and participate in prioritization with product and business stakeholders.
- Own delivery tasks, estimate work, manage risks, and report status for assigned applications or services.
- Build, operate, automate, and improve software and its deployment processes.
- Drive service integration, end-to-end architecture understanding, customer experience improvements, and technology adoption.
- Lead code, design, and process trade-off discussions and review team members’ coding, testing, and automation work.
- Troubleshoot complex application issues using debugging, root cause analysis, performance tuning, and analysis of thread, heap, and memory dumps.
- Support product demonstrations, acceptance discussions, stakeholder reviews, release validation, deployment verification, and production readiness.
- Mentor new and less-experienced engineers and share knowledge across the guild and program.
- Use engineering and delivery metrics to identify process improvements, reduce waste, and increase reuse and productivity.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in payments, financial services, or highly regulated industries.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, JPA, Angular, and SQL databases.
- Knowledge of secure software development, OWASP, CWE, SEI CERT, vulnerability management, and remediation.
- Understanding of security, reliability, performance, observability, customer experience, service-oriented architectures, and other principles for mission-critical applications.
- Experience with RESTful API design and consumption, API governance, documentation, and standardization.
- Experience with object-oriented design, MVC, Dependency Injection, API Gateway, Intercepting Filter, Lazy Loading, and distributed system patterns.
- Practical experience with unit, integration, contract, regression, and performance testing, including TDD, BDD, and the Test Pyramid methodology.
- Experience with code quality and security tools such as SonarQube, Checkmarx, and Zally.
- Familiarity with source control, branching strategies such as GitFlow, peer review, CI/CD, and automated deployment pipelines using Jenkins, XL Release, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
- Ability to define and estimate non-functional requirements covering performance, scalability, security, regulatory compliance, availability, and service-level objectives.
- Ability to analyze engineering metrics such as velocity, throughput, lead time, defect leakage, and cycle time.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, mentoring, and stakeholder-management skills in an Agile environment.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity, code quality, and delivery outcomes.
