Responsibilities
- Design enterprise container strategies, roadmaps, architecture standards, patterns, and best practices aligned with federal government requirements.
- Lead solution design and implementation for containerised applications, Azure Container solutions, AKS platforms, cloud modernisation, and hybrid or multi-cloud environments.
- Establish AKS governance, security, networking, identity, operational, registry, image-management, observability, and deployment standards.
- Lead cross-functional technical teams, mentor engineers, provide architectural governance and reviews, and guide platform engineering and self-service capabilities.
- Design container security using image scanning, runtime security, access controls, Zero Trust principles, Microsoft Entra ID, managed identities, workload identities, and least-privilege access.
- Develop operational runbooks, disaster recovery procedures, monitoring, logging, tracing, performance analytics, CI/CD automation, and cost optimisation practices.
- Evaluate OpenShift and other container platforms and present architectural recommendations to executive and technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- 10+ years of IT architecture and infrastructure design experience.
- 7+ years of hands-on containerisation experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- 5+ years of enterprise architecture in large-scale, multi-team environments and 5+ years of enterprise cloud architecture experience.
- At least 3 years of hands-on Azure and AKS experience, with expert proficiency in Azure Cloud Services and Azure Kubernetes Service.
- Experience leading technical teams and architecture initiatives, designing solutions for federal government or equivalent regulated environments, and leading cross-functional stakeholders.
- Advanced Kubernetes administration and architecture skills, container security, networking, storage, infrastructure-as-code, container registries, image management, CI/CD pipeline design, cloud networking, and compliance architecture.
- Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance; NV1 eligibility is highly desirable.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), or Azure Administrator (AZ-104) plus additional Azure certifications, is required.
- Kubernetes certification such as CKA or CKAD is strongly preferred.
- OpenShift or Red Hat container experience, Azure Government or FedRAMP experience, service mesh familiarity, DevOps transformation experience, federal compliance knowledge, and relevant publications or open-source contributions are preferred.
