Responsibilities

  • Drive development of the company-wide self-service data platform covering ingestion, storage, transformation, and access.
  • Migrate from legacy data infrastructure to the new platform and decommission the old system.
  • Provide batch and streaming platform capabilities.
  • Build data quality, freshness, lineage, monitoring, and alerting capabilities.
  • Manage data infrastructure as code through existing CI/CD and GitOps pipelines.
  • Implement data governance covering retention, access control, pseudonymisation, and audit trails.
  • Optimize system performance, cost efficiency, and resiliency.
  • Expand platform capability through documentation, pairing, and Dojo sessions.
  • Contribute to broader platform topics, incident response, and postmortems.
  • Collaborate with backend, mobile, and analytics teams to align platform solutions with product and engineering needs.

Requirements

  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience as a Data Platform Engineer or Data Engineer.
  • Strong Python skills and ability to write clean, maintainable, well-tested code.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and their data services.
  • Hands-on experience with pipeline orchestration and a data transformation framework.
  • Experience with streaming and ideally Kafka, including ordering, delivery guarantees, and schema evolution.
  • Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Awareness of GDPR and translating data protection obligations into platform design.
  • Proactive, organized, communicative, collaborative, and able to share knowledge across disciplines.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • EU-based work eligibility or location.
  • Preferred: Kubernetes and container orchestration experience.
  • Preferred: Production experience with open table formats such as Iceberg or LakeHouse architecture.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting ML or AI workloads, including feature pipelines, training data, or model monitoring.
  • Preferred: Experience in regulated, financial, or mobility domains where correctness was auditable.
  • Preferred: Experience making a data platform self-service for other users.
