Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain production-grade control-plane microservices, custom Kubernetes operators, and reconciliation engines in Rust and Go.
- Author functional and non-functional requirements, architectural specifications, system sequence diagrams, and API schemas.
- Develop integrations for SONiC, NVUE, Cumulus, and DPU hardware platforms.
- Instrument services with OpenTelemetry traces and metrics and perform root-cause analysis across distributed systems.
- Participate in review-gated pull request workflows across Rust, Go, and SQL codebases.
- Maintain high test coverage through mock-driven testing and highly testable interfaces for hardware and network dependencies.
- Write architectural specifications and participate in cross-functional design reviews.
- Contribute to open-source systems projects and provide on-call coverage across neighboring systems.
Requirements
- Primary mastery of Rust, including Tokio, Tonic, Axum, and sqlx, plus strong proficiency in Go.
- Advanced SQL and PostgreSQL skills, including gRPC/Protobuf contract design and schema evolution.
- Strong knowledge of asynchronous concurrency, lock-free patterns, distributed state handling, and mock-driven testing.
- Expertise in BGP, MP-BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, L3VNI, route targets, and route server design.
- Hands-on experience with SONiC, Cumulus Linux, and NVUE.
- Deep knowledge of NVIDIA DOCA, Host-Based Networking, BlueField DPU architectures, and the DPF operator model.
- Understanding of InfiniBand, NVLink, NMX-M partitioning, and RoCEv2.
- Advanced Linux networking knowledge, including netlink, network namespaces, routing tables, and DHCP/DNS service implementations.
- Familiarity with CNI plugins such as Calico and Cilium; OVS and DPDK experience is a plus.
- Expertise in PXE/iPXE, UEFI, Secure Boot, measured boot, and TPM attestation.
- Proficiency with Redfish, IPMI, and BMC abstractions across heterogeneous hardware platforms.
- In-depth knowledge of boot chains, systemd, initramfs, and BIOS configuration matrices.
- Practical experience with PKI, X.509 certificates, TLS, SPIFFE/SVID, Vault, KMS, Keycloak, OAuth2/JWT, and RBAC.
- Experience with KubeVirt and KVM.
- Experience writing custom Kubernetes controllers and operators with kube-rs or controller-runtime and CRD-driven reconciliation patterns.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least five years of software engineering experience in cloud-native platforms, systems programming, networking, or infrastructure automation.
- Open-source systems project participation or maintainership is a plus.
