Responsibilities
- Design and develop AI-enabled tools that allow customers to use Okta with AI agents, heavily leveraging the Model Context Protocol.
- Build, maintain, and contribute to open-source SDKs for AI-driven applications and workflows.
- Design, develop, and maintain highly available, scalable, and resilient services and applications with clear designs, APIs, and data models.
- Own end-to-end technical solutions across multiple services or components, including code quality, observability, security, and operational readiness.
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to translate customer and business requirements into reusable technical solutions.
- Lead code and design reviews, mentor engineers, and promote engineering best practices.
- Diagnose production issues and improve reliability and performance through data-driven analysis.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines and operational tooling and safely integrate AI/ML-enabled solutions into production workflows.
Requirements
- Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and advanced system design.
- At least 4 years of experience working on backend and distributed systems.
- Deep expertise in Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
- Experience designing and evolving multi-service or domain-level architectures, APIs, data models, and integration patterns.
- Demonstrated success improving the performance, reliability, and scalability of high-traffic or mission-critical systems.
- Experience driving test automation, CI/CD improvements, security hardening, and operational best practices.
- Hands-on experience integrating or operating AI/ML-enabled capabilities in production services or workflows.
- Familiarity with AI-driven developer productivity or observability tools and safe application of AI-related techniques in large-scale systems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills across technical and business teams.
