Base Salary

$179k - $269k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Build monitoring that measures platform health and reliability.
  • Create alerting and runbooks for faster detection and remediation of platform issues.
  • Debug complex multi-component issues and implement preventative fixes.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and blameless postmortems.
  • Design and implement platform components that make customer workflows simpler and more efficient.
  • Build Kubernetes controllers to automate operations.
  • Collaborate with ingest, data processing, mapping, labeling, triage, machine learning, motion planning and control, offline simulation, and release/deployment teams on observability and incident response.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience; alternatively, a master’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience or a PhD.
  • Fundamental understanding of Linux operating system internals, TCP/IP networking, and storage subsystems.
  • Hands-on Go or Python development experience for reliable production software.
  • Strong experience scaling and securing services in AWS, GCP, or cloud-native environments.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code principles and tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience authoring and maintaining Kubernetes controllers in Go.
  • Experience operating Kubernetes and related core components in large-scale production environments.
  • Experience with metrics, logging, and tracing systems such as Prometheus, Elasticsearch, Loki, Jaeger, and Tempo.
  • Understanding of engineering design limitations and ability to guide teams in scaling services within performance and budget goals.
  • Experience defining and adhering to service-level objectives to improve reliability.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in diverse, distributed teams.
  • Legally authorized to work permanently in the United States; employment eligibility verification is required.
