Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain critical components of OCI’s Next Gen Network Observability platform.
  • Build scalable, topology-aware measurement, analytics, inference, and distributed systems for data center and WAN networks.
  • Develop algorithms for path reconstruction, congestion triangulation, queue-wait estimation, fault localization, root cause analysis, and customer-impact attribution.
  • Ingest and correlate active probes, routing and topology data, switch and ASIC telemetry, queues, flows, logs, metrics, events, and streaming telemetry.
  • Produce confidence-scored diagnoses and convert observability insights into safe signals for traffic steering, congestion mitigation, fault isolation, and service recovery.
  • Design systems and safeguards that remain accurate, available, explainable, and safe under incomplete telemetry, topology changes, uncertainty, policy constraints, and partial failures.
  • Build validation, performance, load-testing, dashboards, telemetry, alerting, fault-injection, and correctness frameworks.
  • Write and maintain robust production code, resolve complex production issues, participate in operational support rotations, and conduct design and code reviews.
  • Lead technical delivery, mentor engineers, contribute to hiring, and collaborate with networking, SRE, hardware, network operations, security, AI/ML, and product teams.
  • Implement security, compliance, infrastructure automation, change-management, rollback, replication, failover, throttling, and rate-limiting mechanisms.‌

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 6–10+ years of experience building large-scale distributed systems, network modeling software, network measurement platforms, or telemetry and observability systems.
  • Strong knowledge of L2/L3 forwarding, routing, switching, BGP, ECMP, data center fabrics, queues, buffers, congestion, and packet loss.
  • Advanced programming experience in at least one of Java, Go, C++, Rust, or Python.
  • Strong understanding of algorithms, distributed systems, data structures, system reliability, and performance engineering.
  • Experience with active network measurement, streaming telemetry, time-series or stream processing, graph algorithms, statistical inference, probabilistic modeling, or multi-source data fusion.
  • Familiarity with ML pipelines and models, including preparation, training, evaluation, deployment, versioning, monitoring, and production integration.
  • Experience processing high-volume, time-sensitive data and operating systems under incomplete, delayed, or contradictory inputs.
  • Ability to validate algorithms and models against ground truth and convert experimental results into production-quality systems.
  • Experience designing automated or closed-loop systems with safety controls, rollback mechanisms, and human oversight.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and workflows across the software development lifecycle.
  • Track record of technical leadership, mentorship, cross-functional delivery, and operating production systems at cloud or enterprise scale.

Benefits

  • US salary range is $114,600–$234,600 per year, with possible bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, life and AD&D insurance, flexible spending accounts, commuter and parking benefits, 401(k) match, paid time off, 11 paid holidays, paid sick leave, paid parental leave, adoption assistance, employee stock purchase plan, financial planning, group legal services, and voluntary insurance benefits.
