Base Salary
$140k - $160k/yr
Responsibilities
- Maintain application and system environments across VA Enterprise Cloud in an operational state 24x7x365.
- Apply operating system and application patches and perform backup and restoration activities.
- Support software releases, including work outside core hours, and validate maximum load after production deployment.
- Manage and optimize cloud resource utilization through capacity planning and forecasting.
- Implement SRE practices and patterns that improve reliability, performance, automation, fault tolerance, telemetry, logging, and alerting.
- Improve fault tolerance across distributed and microservices systems.
- Conduct trend analysis of system performance and resource utilization to forecast demand and identify bottlenecks.
- Implement real-time proactive monitoring dashboards for system health visibility and alerting.
- Produce monitoring reports, SLT assessments, postmortems, and operational dashboards.
- Maintain incident response plans, disaster recovery plans, backup and restoration plans, and continuity operations.
- Provide outage reports, SLT performance updates, and incident communications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- 7–10 years of experience.
- Knowledge of modern SRE practices, including automation, resilience engineering, observability, fault tolerance, SLT/SLA adherence, and incident analysis.
- Experience producing monitoring reports, SLT assessments, postmortems, and operational dashboards.
- Experience with Jira and GitHub.
- Competency maintaining incident response plans, disaster recovery plans, backup and restoration plans, and executing continuity operations.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Preferred experience with AWS VA Enterprise Cloud and Azure DevOps.
- Public Trust eligibility or experience is preferred as stated in the posting.
