Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and technical decisions for SQL Server systems, data models, synchronization patterns, and cross-system data workflows.
- Design and implement complex features and enhancements in SQL Server and MongoDB with attention to performance, scalability, and security.
- Modernize legacy ETL-style, batch, synchronization, and application-integrated data workflows.
- Define scalable data pipeline architecture and orchestration with improved observability, supportability, recoverability, and resilience.
- Improve transactional, analytical, and downstream data exchange patterns and standardize synchronization, transformation, validation, and delivery approaches.
- Drive query tuning, indexing, workload analysis, and data lifecycle performance optimization.
- Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and best practices.
- Collaborate with product, application, analytics, QA, documentation, support, and customer engagement teams.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues and contribute to development process and tooling improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience; advanced degrees are a plus.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep Microsoft SQL Server expertise.
- Strong knowledge of database internals, query optimization, performance tuning, SQL/T-SQL programming, database design, and data modeling.
- Understanding of SaaS, distributed systems, scalability, and high availability concepts.
- Experience with Python, C, C++, C#, or other relevant programming languages.
- Experience designing, implementing, or modernizing ETL/ELT workflows, batch processing, synchronization services, or application-integrated data pipelines.
- Proven ability to design and implement complex, maintainable, high-performance software features.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, technical leadership, and mentoring skills.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB is a plus.
- Microsoft SQL Server certifications are a plus.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
