Responsibilities
- Contribute to technical vision and make architectural decisions for multi-cloud infrastructure, in-memory technologies, and system design.
- Develop Python APIs, services, background workers, and database-backed applications using Postgres and Redis.
- Design scalable, reliable, maintainable systems and integrate third-party APIs.
- Create and optimize data models, schemas, indexes, and complex SQL queries.
- Collaborate with software and production engineers on service design, feature rollouts, reliability, and performance.
- Diagnose production issues, participate in on-call support, lead incident analysis, and drive preventative improvements.
- Conduct code reviews, write documentation, and develop unit and integration test suites.
- Drive operational maturity through observability, incident response, on-call practices, and reliability goals.
- Work Eastern Time hours and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced Agile environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 7+ years of experience programming in Python.
- 5+ years of experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS or GCP.
- 5+ years of experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code concepts.
- 5+ years of experience with continuous integration and build tools.
- Experience architecting systems from the ground up for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Experience with in-memory data processing and database monitoring and diagnostic tools, preferably Datadog.
- Experience with Domain-Driven Design, third-party API integration, authentication and authorization, and asynchronous data flows.
- Strong experience with unit and integration testing, test strategy, and coverage expectations.
- Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries.
- Strong communication, collaboration, software design, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Practical experience operating within and leading Agile development environments, including sprints and Agile ceremonies.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
