Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services and features using Go, PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases, and related language stacks.
- Design and operate scalable systems with strong reliability, performance, and operational excellence.
- Build Kafka-based event-processing services that support reliable downstream workflows.
- Design service interfaces, third-party API integrations, data models, schemas, SQL queries, and performance optimizations.
- Own complex engineering initiatives from discovery and requirements through delivery and production support.
- Lead technical architecture, design standards, roadmaps, technical-debt prioritization, and cross-functional alignment.
- Diagnose production issues, improve observability and incident response, lead post-incident analysis, and drive reliability improvements.
- Conduct code reviews, create documentation and test suites, mentor engineers, and raise engineering quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 8 years of experience building SaaS web applications using Go and Node.js; C# experience is a plus, and 12+ years is desirable.
- At least 8 years of experience working with continuous integration and build tools.
- Strong experience with existing codebases, third-party API integrations, authentication and authorization, asynchronous data flows, Kafka event systems, and reliable event-driven workflows.
- Strong unit and integration testing experience, including test strategy and coverage expectations.
- Strong AWS experience with SQS, SNS, S3, ECS, EKS, Lambda, Elasticsearch, Docker, and containers.
- Strong Docker and Kubernetes experience, including containerization, orchestration, and serverless deployment scenarios.
- Strong SQL and data-layer development experience, including schema design, query performance, indexing, and data reliability.
- Expertise in version control, release strategies, software engineering tooling, builds, testing, and the software development lifecycle.
- Expertise debugging distributed systems with distributed tracing and leading root-cause analysis and preventative improvements.
- Experience architecting systems for scalability, reliability, and maintainability and leading technical alignment across geographically distributed teams.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills and the ability to communicate tradeoffs and align stakeholders.
