
Staff SRE for K8s Platform Team (AWS, Kubernetes, Platform Creation, Helm, Karpenter, Istio)

Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain highly available, scalable, and fault-tolerant Kubernetes platforms for production workloads.
- Build, manage, secure, and optimize AWS infrastructure, including EKS, ECS, S3, VPCs, RDS, and IAM.
- Create and maintain Helm charts for production-ready Kubernetes deployments.
- Implement and manage Karpenter for dynamic Kubernetes cluster scaling and resource optimization.
- Configure and manage Istio for service-to-service communication, traffic management, security, service discovery, policy enforcement, and observability.
- Automate infrastructure and application deployment, scaling, and management through CI/CD pipelines.
- Respond to incidents and troubleshoot performance, availability, and security issues.
- Implement secure cloud infrastructure with appropriate access controls, network security, and compliance controls.
- Document Kubernetes platform setup, operational procedures, and best practices while sharing knowledge across teams.
Requirements
- At least five years of experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Karpenter, and Istio.
- At least eight years of experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Chef, or Ansible.
- At least eight years of experience with serverless computing, including AWS Lambda and API Gateway, and microservices architecture.
- Proven AWS experience, including EKS, ECS, RDS, S3, CloudFormation, and IAM, with an understanding of cloud-native architectures.
- Strong expertise creating, managing, and optimizing Kubernetes platforms, including highly available clusters, networking, and storage.
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications with Helm.
- Practical experience implementing Karpenter for Kubernetes cluster scaling and resource optimization.
- Expertise securing and managing Istio service mesh features such as traffic management, security, and observability.
- Proficiency with automation tools and CI/CD platforms including Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI, Terraform, Spinnaker, or Ansible.
- Strong scripting and automation skills in Python or Go.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools including Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, and ELK Stack.
- Preferred experience with multi-region cloud environments, cloud and Kubernetes security practices, RBAC, encryption, and compliance frameworks.
- Familiarity with Docker and containerization principles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- CKA, CKAD, or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer certification is preferred.
