Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and development of complex, high-performance C++ trading systems.
- Design distributed systems with consistency, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and resilience across system boundaries.
- Own delivery from technical proposals and design reviews through refactoring, implementation, deployment, production debugging, replay, and validation.
- Solve low-level systems problems involving networking, protocols, concurrency, memory management, performance, and operating-system behavior.
- Identify systemic issues and architectural anti-patterns and redesign components with clear responsibilities.
- Build automated testing, failure-injection scenarios, stability validation, monitoring, and replay-based verification.
- Use controlled experiments to validate architectural assumptions and diagnose complex production issues.
- Work across heterogeneous technology stacks and make engineering decisions at language, service, and platform boundaries.
- Apply AI-assisted engineering practices to code understanding, solution design, reviews, incident analysis, test validation, and knowledge capture.
- Raise engineering standards through code reviews, technical discussions, documentation, playbooks, technical sessions, and reusable frameworks.
- Mentor engineers and share practical knowledge across the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of hands-on software engineering experience, including substantial experience building production C++ systems.
- Strong experience designing and evolving complex systems with an understanding of architectural trade-offs.
- Knowledge of concurrency, multithreading, network programming, and performance optimization in Linux-based environments.
- Experience with distributed consistency, high availability, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, or other system-level reliability designs.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols, operating systems, memory, storage, runtime behavior, and computer systems fundamentals.
- Proven proactive ownership from problem definition through robust solution delivery and validation.
- Exceptional debugging and analytical ability with a focus on root-cause investigation.
- Experience with automated tests, simulation, replay, or comparative experiments for validating system behavior and reliability.
- Clear communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to turn experience into documentation, standards, and team practices.
- Preferred: experience with exchange, brokerage, trading counter, order management, execution, market data, or other low-latency financial systems.
- Preferred: experience with event-driven architectures, messaging systems, or high-throughput distributed platforms.
- Preferred: familiarity with Rust, Java, Go, Python, or other languages used in multi-language production environments.
- Preferred: practical experience applying AI tools to software engineering workflows and experience with globally distributed, cross-functional engineering teams.
