Responsibilities
- Design and develop end-to-end full-stack solutions across frontend and backend systems.
- Build scalable, secure RESTful APIs, backend services, and high-performance React and Next.js applications.
- Design and implement server-side rendering and SEO-friendly web applications.
- Review pull requests, mentor engineers, and promote coding standards, architectural guidelines, scalability, and best practices.
- Collaborate with UX and design teams to deliver consistent, accessible, responsive user experiences.
- Manage deployments across development, QA, UAT, and production environments.
- Define and implement CI/CD pipelines and support DevOps practices for web applications.
- Provide rotational or on-demand production support, ensuring system stability and timely issue resolution.
- Ensure unit, integration, and UI test coverage and enforce quality gates, including guidance on AI-assisted test automation.
- Champion responsible AI-assisted development using tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and ChatGPT.
- Evaluate frontend and backend technologies and design solutions for security, scalability, and high availability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver complex technical initiatives.
- Work in overlapping time zones with U.S. East Coast teams as required.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of engineering experience.
- Significant experience with Java, with Spring Boot preferred, plus React JS and Next JS.
- Strong knowledge of server-side rendering, static site generation, API-driven development, RESTful APIs, and microservices.
- Experience building applications from concept and architecture through development and production deployment.
- Understanding of MVC, MVVM, layered architecture, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
- Experience with authentication and authorization technologies including OAuth, JWT, and SSO.
- Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of observability tools such as App D and Splunk.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database technologies, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.
- Proficiency with Git and version-control practices.
- Understanding of web performance optimization, accessibility, responsive design, security, scalability, and high availability.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, or similar platforms, including secure validation and protection of confidential information.
- Strong communication, cross-team collaboration, attention to detail, and quality focus.
- Experience with U.S. insurance domains such as group benefits, billing, claims, or enrollment is an advantage.
- Familiarity with MetLife, Sun Life, or similar insurer platforms and business processes is an advantage.
- Understanding of regulatory, compliance, and customer-experience considerations in insurance systems is an advantage.
