Responsibilities
- Lead software projects, including vendor management, developer leadership, tool management, and coordination with user-facing business areas.
- Plan, design, and develop backend and frontend software projects while meeting defined timelines, quality standards, and success metrics.
- Coordinate with other Building Blocks to support application availability and performance objectives.
- Maintain effective relationships with business areas throughout the project lifecycle and remove delivery barriers.
- Support compliance with software development standards and best practices.
- Apply BBVA’s agile methodologies and participate in required ceremonies and internal committees.
- Provide training, mentoring, support, and technical guidance to other developers.
- Follow applicable BBVA, legal, conduct, security, financial-consumer, and anti-money-laundering policies and report irregularities.
Requirements
- Professional degree in Systems Engineering or a related software-development field.
- At least 3 years of experience as a software developer.
- At least 2 years of experience leading software projects and development teams, with demonstrable results.
- Experience managing vendors and working with business or user-facing areas.
- Demonstrated autonomy in conducting projects from beginning to end.
- Strong knowledge of BBVA Altamira applications, or demonstrated ability to learn them quickly.
- Knowledge of COBOL, Control-M, TSO, Altamira transaction development, Batch and Online components, Polisario generation, SQL, and DB2.
- Experience with agile documentation and/or functional designs.
- Desired qualifications include a specialization in project management or software development, leadership or project-management certifications, and banking or BBVA experience.
- Desirable technical knowledge includes distributed Control-M grids, Data X, LRBA, APX Batch, HTML5, Java, web services, SOAP, REST APIs, ASO, WAS, operational databases, Scrum, Copilot, Gemini, ChatGPT, specialized development prompts, and zDevOps.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, technical decision-making, mentoring, results orientation, quality focus, adaptability, and continuous-learning skills.
