Responsibilities
- Analyze requirements and RFCs and develop efficient software designs.
- Contribute to the future direction of satellite systems and related products across software architecture, infrastructure performance, testing, and reliability.
- Design, develop, document, test, and integrate software functionality for satellite-system components and related environments.
- Develop and optimize real-time signal-processing, fixed-point DSP, and digital communications algorithms on programmable DSP processors.
- Integrate DSP-based PHY implementations with MAC/control software, FPGA interfaces, embedded ARM processors, and higher-layer software.
- Troubleshoot technical issues encountered during deployment of software solutions and provide resolutions.
- Collaborate with software, firmware, embedded, application, and test engineers in a Scrum team.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, electronics and communication engineering, information technology, or a related subject area, or equivalent experience.
- At least 7 years of hands-on C/C++ software development experience.
- Experience designing, implementing, debugging, and maintaining PHY-MAC control-plane software on embedded ARM/Linux or x86 platforms.
- Experience optimizing real-time signal-processing algorithms on programmable DSP processors such as CEVA, NXP, or similar architectures.
- Strong Vector C/C++ experience, including SIMD/vectorization and optimization for processor-specific architectures.
- Experience with DSP development, debugging, profiling, and performance optimization tools, as well as fixed-point DSP and digital communications algorithms.
- Experience partitioning communications/PHY functionality across FPGA fabric, programmable DSP processors, and embedded ARM processors is highly desirable.
- Experience integrating DSP-based PHY implementations into complete modem or wireless communications systems.
- Familiarity with 5G NR/5G NTN MAC and PHY-MAC interactions, including resource grids, slots and frames, numerology, scheduling, transport channels, HARQ, link adaptation, and physical-channel mapping.
- Experience resolving real-time embedded issues involving threading, optimization, memory management, interrupt handling, and multi-core or multi-CPU environments.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, socket programming, 3GPP standards, 5G architecture, satellite or terrestrial communications systems, and AWS or Azure is desired.
- Strong software design, object-oriented design and programming, problem-solving, documentation, presentation, communication, and technical leadership skills.
- Working knowledge of UML and professional software engineering practices across the full software development life cycle.
- Experience with GDB, Valgrind, Git or other version-control systems, Jira, Jenkins, unit and integration testing, functional testing, test automation, CI/CD pipelines, shell scripting, or Python is desired.
