Responsibilities
- Articulate and evangelize technical vision for the cloud engineering domain.
- Decompose complex problems into practical and operational solutions and ensure technical design and implementation quality.
- Provide authoritative expertise on performance, scalability, operability, and other non-functional system characteristics.
- Modernize monolithic systems into microservice architectures and event-driven platforms.
- Define long-term platform strategy and API standards with engineering and architecture leaders.
- Lead cross-divisional projects, strategic technical initiatives, and adoption of technological best practices.
- Balance hands-on technical contribution with mentoring and development of engineers.
- Lead responsible adoption of AI and automation capabilities to improve cloud platform scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
- Influence enterprise-wide technical standards, portfolio-level technology strategy, and organization design.
- Support the full system lifecycle from conception and architecture through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field such as Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
- At least 8 years of software engineering experience.
- At least 4 years of cloud engineering experience.
- Preferred: master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
- Preferred: 10+ years of coding experience with Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js.
- Preferred: 6+ years of experience with public cloud platforms, infrastructure-as-code, policy-as-code, and related governance practices.
- Preferred: experience with Kubernetes, serverless architectures, cloud networking, security and identity integrations, and production cloud troubleshooting.
- Preferred: experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts, multi-team organizations, strategic programs, and enterprise architectural reviews.
- Preferred: experience defining engineering OKRs, shaping talent strategy, mentoring senior engineers, and communicating with strategic and executive audiences.
- Preferred: active certifications related to cloud infrastructure management or security and expertise applying agentic AI coding tools to systemic development challenges.
