Responsibilities
- Define the technical vision and architecture for agentic reliability systems across Meta.
- Design, code, and ship production AI agents for complex infrastructure and incident-response problems.
- Advance an AI agent toward accurate, trusted, safely supervised autonomous investigation and mitigation.
- Improve agent reasoning, context, tool use, planning, evaluation, learning, and safe execution.
- Apply techniques including fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, model routing, distillation, pruning, inference optimization, and automated hill climbing.
- Build evaluation, experimentation, and closed-loop improvement systems tied to production outcomes.
- Establish authorization, independent validation, auditability, rollback, and human-oversight guardrails for production actions.
- Prototype solutions against real production workloads and develop successful approaches into reliable systems at scale.
- Partner with Infrastructure, AI, Product, and Reliability leaders and mentor engineers across distributed systems and applied AI.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, including building and operating large-scale distributed or infrastructure systems.
- Experience setting technical direction and leading complex, multi-year engineering efforts across organizational boundaries.
- Experience applying AI or machine learning systems to production problems and delivering measurable production impact.
- Experience diagnosing complex production systems using telemetry, code, configuration, and dependency information.
- Recent hands-on experience building and shipping complex production systems across architecture, experimentation, debugging, and implementation.
- Experience influencing senior engineers and leaders without direct organizational authority.
- Experience coding in C++, Java, Python, Rust, or equivalent.
- Preferred experience includes autonomous production actions, safety and rollback mechanisms, hyperscale reliability and latency, agent evaluation and optimization, observability, incident response, distributed systems, production infrastructure, and self-improving systems.
