Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary AI Software technical lead for the Automotive Business Unit, OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, and strategic customers.
- Represent Qualcomm in customer discussions, technical deep dives, architecture reviews, and issue resolution.
- Lead or coordinate the design, development, integration, and delivery of AI software features for automotive platforms.
- Translate customer and market requirements into technical requirements, architecture proposals, roadmaps, and execution plans.
- Enhance the Qualcomm AI Stack across model preparation, optimization, runtime, inference, tooling, and developer workflows.
- Lead deployment of computer vision, perception, driver monitoring, voice assistant, LLM, multimodal, and generative AI workloads.
- Drive architectural decisions across products, software releases, and automotive customer programs.
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts across AI Software, Automotive Engineering, Program Management, Product Management, Systems Engineering, and Platform Software.
- Resolve complex issues spanning application software, middleware, operating systems, drivers, compilers, and hardware platforms.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance on architecture, optimization, debugging, and customer deployment challenges.
- Drive strategic planning, long-term roadmap development, and adoption of AI technologies across automotive programs.
- Ensure solutions meet automotive performance, reliability, maintainability, security, safety, and quality requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field plus 8+ years of relevant experience; or a master’s degree plus 7+ years; or a PhD plus 6+ years.
- 15+ years of industry experience in software engineering, embedded systems, AI/ML software, or automotive software development is preferred.
- Expert-level C/C++ development experience and software architecture and design expertise are preferred.
- Experience leading large technical initiatives across multiple teams and organizations, including globally distributed engineering teams and cross-functional programs.
- Experience interfacing directly with customers and translating requirements into engineering deliverables.
- Experience with automotive software platforms such as QNX, Android Automotive, Linux, or AUTOSAR-based environments.
- Experience delivering software for automotive production programs with OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
- Familiarity with ISO 26262, ASPICE, ISO/SAE 21434, functional safety processes, and automotive cybersecurity standards.
- Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, JAX, or equivalent AI/ML frameworks.
- Experience deploying and optimizing CNNs, Transformers, vision-language models, LLMs, and multimodal models.
- Experience with edge AI inference acceleration and heterogeneous compute across CPUs, GPUs, NPUs, DSPs, and AI accelerators.
- Experience with Qualcomm AI technologies including QAIRT, QNN, SNPE, Genie, and related components.
- Experience with model quantization, compression, pruning, compilation, and runtime optimization.
- Software development experience in Python, Git-based source control, Agile development, and AI-native or agentic software development.
- Strong communication, presentation, technical leadership, influence, consensus-building, and decision-making skills.

- Pay range is $200,800.00–$301,200.00, with an annual discretionary bonus program and potential annual RSU grants.
