Base Salary
$231k - $340k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering projects spanning multiple Product Engineering teams and product lines.
- Define technical strategy and make major architectural and product tradeoff decisions.
- Build Harvey experiences across web, desktop, mobile, Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Slack, and APIs.
- Develop AI-platform and AI-native capabilities including agent harnesses, custom agents, workflows, tool calling, retrieval, memory, context management, personalization, and evaluations.
- Build scalable systems for petabyte-scale document retrieval, rapidly growing ingestion, multi-jurisdiction data collection, and highly secure customer matters.
- Ship across the stack using React, TypeScript, Python, and Postgres, including intuitive user experiences and robust APIs.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers and improve engineering practices across the organization.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in a product-focused software engineering role after a BS or MS degree, operating at Staff level or above.
- Depth in full stack, backend, or agents/AI engineering with sufficient breadth to contribute outside the primary specialty.
- Experience building scalable, extensible systems supporting multiple product lines.
- Track record of shipping intuitive products in fast-growing SaaS companies.
- Experience with React, TypeScript, CSS, TailwindCSS, Python, or related technologies.
- For agents/AI work, hands-on experience building and shipping agentic systems including agent harnesses or loops, tool use, memory, and evaluations rather than only calling LLM APIs.
- Strong programming skills and general computer science knowledge.
- Ability to influence and align engineers and leaders beyond the candidate’s direct scope.
- Experience at early-stage startups is a plus.
- Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex is expected as part of the development workflow.
