Base Salary

$221k - $331k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical direction and evolution of autonomy capabilities and architectures across multiple space programs.
  • Develop distributed optimization, task allocation, resource scheduling, weapons target assignment, motion planning, and collaborative behavior capabilities for space vehicles and interceptors.
  • Research and prototype advanced control, planning, behavior-management, and information-aware algorithms.
  • Build rigorous, high-performance software modules with clear interfaces for mid-to-high Technology Readiness Level insertions.
  • Integrate autonomy capabilities with perception, planning, simulation, hardware, and flight-test teams.
  • Deploy software to real space vehicles and analyze mission logs to verify performance and operational effects.
  • Contribute to autonomy roadmaps by identifying capability gaps and proposing new solutions.
  • Mentor engineers and decompose ambiguous customer needs into concrete technical designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically requires at least 10 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 9 years with a master’s degree, or 7 years with a PhD, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python and familiarity with real-time operating systems.
  • Significant experience with robotics technologies involving motion planning, behavior modeling, decision-making, or autonomous-system design.
  • Significant experience with unmanned-system technologies and related algorithms, ideally in the space domain.
  • Experience with simulation tools and environments such as AFSIM and NGTS.
  • Strong troubleshooting, optimization, communication, teamwork, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience across multiple aerospace domains, classical control through optimization and applied ML/RL, collaborative behaviors and swarm robotics, DoD or government programs, and integration events, customer demonstrations, or live exercises.
