Base Salary
$54k - $105k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define test strategies, coverage goals, acceptance criteria, and QA approaches for Conversational AI systems.
- Design, build, and maintain reusable test automation frameworks and test harnesses.
- Create API-level, backend service, end-to-end, voice, chat, and conversational AI test plans and automation.
- Validate multi-turn conversations, intent recognition, orchestration logic, AI responses, and customer experience.
- Support testing across Java and Node.js backends, APIs, frontend layers, and Conversational AI platforms.
- Provide test infrastructure, documentation, patterns, and test data strategies for engineering teams.
- Monitor test execution and quality metrics and act as a release stakeholder to ensure defects are resolved.
- Educate and mentor engineers on testing frameworks, automation patterns, and test-driven development.
- Pair with developers and contribute to automated test implementation and general development work.
Requirements
- 5+ years of total software engineering experience, including 3+ years focused on test automation or SDET work.
- Deep understanding of automation testing and the ability to lead engineers in writing automation programs.
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend language, including Java or Node.js, with object-oriented design experience.
- Expertise in API testing, REST, request/response validation, mocking, and contract testing.
- Experience with JUnit, Jest, or equivalent test frameworks, with custom framework development preferred.
- Experience with SOAPUI, Postman, Bruno, Playwright, Selenium, Cucumber, Hammer, and Cyara.
- Voice and chat test automation expertise and familiarity with conversational system testing methodologies.
- Knowledge of GitHub Actions and automation in CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience designing and maintaining test data strategies and testing across APIs, backends, and frontend layers.
- Strong communication, documentation, mentoring, and testing-strategy skills.
- Familiarity with object-oriented design, cloud software development, and applied software engineering practices.
- Experience testing LLM or AI responses, including approaches such as LLM-as-a-judge.
- Preferred experience includes conversational AI platforms, contract testing or API mocking tools, performance/load testing frameworks, and AI agent testing.
