Base Salary
$198k - $296k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and scaling of a unified, high-throughput, low-latency communications platform across SMS, email, push, and in-app channels.
- Define the long-term technical roadmap for proactive outreach with product and engineering leadership.
- Architect integrations with proprietary predictive models so outreach is triggered by member behaviors and needs.
- Improve system performance, reliability, deliverability, observability, error handling, and member privacy.
- Establish engineering practices for automated testing, monitoring, and production ML model performance.
- Mentor senior and intermediate engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and engineering standards.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Marketing, and Data Science to deliver cohesive member experiences.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of non-internship, full-time professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years with high-scale distributed systems or communication platforms.
- At least 2 years of experience with Python for backend or data integration and TypeScript/Node.js for services.
- At least 2 years of experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and containerization tools.
- At least 2 years of experience with distributed systems, microservices architectures, and large-scale data processing.
- At least 2 years of experience mentoring and leading junior team members and collaborating cross-functionally.
- Experience with member-facing communication platforms such as SMS, push notifications, or email and tools such as Twilio, Braze, or internal notification engines is preferred.
- Experience deploying or consuming machine learning models in production is preferred.
- Interest in or experience with large language models or conversational agents is preferred.
- Knowledge of Terraform or CloudFormation is preferred.
- Experience in healthcare, HIPAA, or other regulated environments involving sensitive member data is preferred.
