Base Salary

$124k - $329k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own and advocate for the health, quality, reliability, and security of production systems, including participating in on-call and first-responder rotations.
  • Collect, classify, and analyze system and product metrics to identify issues and guide engineering decisions.
  • Drive automation across production and deployment workflows and improve developer tooling, development velocity, and team performance.
  • Design, prototype, implement, test, ship, and support high-performance, globally scalable code search technology.
  • Design and implement APIs and automated continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
  • Ensure security, privacy, safety, accessibility, auditability, and compliance through appropriate processes and evidence.
  • Write architecture briefs and proposals, conduct code experiments, and build prototypes for planetary-scale systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, project management, and partner teams across the Copilot Agents organization.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of software engineering or related technical experience with production software delivery and coding experience, or qualifying combinations of education and experience.
  • An associate degree may substitute with 5+ years of relevant experience; a bachelor’s degree with 4+ years; a master’s degree with 2+ years; a doctorate or equivalent experience may also qualify.
  • Production programming experience in one or more of C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
  • Preferred experience with production monitoring and observability across networking, applications, caching, queuing, load balancing, storage, and distributed services.
  • Preferred 2+ years of experience with systems programming, search index internals, and information retrieval.
  • Preferred experience solving problems with large-scale distributed systems and a strong understanding of testing and high-quality software practices.
