Responsibilities
- Define and drive data engineering standards, best practices, engineering guardrails, and reusable patterns across business units.
- Lead and grow the global Data Engineering Guild through meetups, tech talks, office hours, hackathons, and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Promote adoption of shared data engineering tools, platforms, capabilities, and assets.
- Own and continuously improve the Data Engineering learning track, including curriculum, exercises, and assessments.
- Deliver training workshops and onboarding programs while coaching and mentoring data engineers.
- Create and maintain documentation, guidelines, FAQs, and playbooks.
- Represent Data Engineering in cross-domain forums and collaborate with Data Science, Architecture, Engineering, and Data Platform teams.
- Influence distributed teams and align them on common standards without formal authority.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree and corresponding thinking level.
- At least 5 years of experience in data engineering and/or data platform development in a large-scale enterprise environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with lakehouse or data platform technologies, preferably Databricks, and modern data engineering practices.
- Solid understanding of lakehouse architectures, data modeling including medallion patterns, ingestion and transformation patterns, and data quality concepts.
- Ability to work in an agile environment and drive initiatives through influence rather than formal authority.
- Strong communication, facilitation, coaching, and stakeholder-adaptation skills.
- Experience designing learning experiences and building engineering communities.
- Experience with internal enablement programs, academies, learning tracks, communities of practice, or guilds is desirable.
- Relevant certifications such as Databricks Data Engineer certification or equivalent demonstrated expertise are desirable.
- Experience in an enablement-focused setup such as a center of excellence, platform team, or federated operating model is a plus.
