Base Salary
$255k - $330k/yr
Responsibilities
- Code, test, debug, and document technical assignments.
- Translate business requirements into high-level technical and procedural solutions.
- Lead architecture and design for complex, distributed, latency-sensitive trading systems.
- Set technical direction and deliver high-quality, well-tested software.
- Mentor engineers and improve code quality, testing, and engineering practices.
- Drive cross-team technical decisions and influence the engineering roadmap.
- Document product details in the wiki to support self-sustaining operations.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for operational problems and lead root-cause analysis during critical production issues and on-call periods.
- Evaluate and champion emerging technologies and AI-powered tools across coding, testing, code review, and documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience writing highly performant, well-tested Java code, including recent hands-on experience in a real-time trading environment.
- Experience building and maintaining multithreaded, distributed, real-time trading systems.
- Experience designing highly distributed, fail-safe systems.
- Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
- Ability to optimize applications and systems for performance.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical design, architecture decisions, and engineer mentoring.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders and work cross-functionally with operations and sales staff.
- Self-directed and self-motivated.
- Preferred: 3–5 years of experience with Linux, scripting, network debugging and programming, PostgreSQL or another relational database, data analysis using R, Git or similar version control, 24x7 applications with limited downtime, FIX and market data processing, finance, and small-company environments.
