Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, maintain, and support COBOL-based card and merchant payment applications.
- Develop and support applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM on IBM Mainframe environments.
- Participate in architecture reviews, technical design discussions, code reviews, and Agile ceremonies.
- Develop and execute automated unit, integration, and regression tests.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve customer-reported defects and production incidents.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, solution designs, and engineering specifications.
- Drive improvements in performance, resiliency, maintainability, and operational excellence.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools for development, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and workflow improvement.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Professional Services, Customer Support, and Engineering teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 8 years of software development experience.
- Strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, and DB2, with hands-on IBM Mainframe experience.
- Experience developing and supporting high-volume transaction processing systems.
- Experience using AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or similar technologies.
- Experience with source code management tools such as Git.
- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills, along with effective verbal and written communication.
- Preferred qualifications include payments-industry experience, knowledge of card issuing or payment processing, Unix/Linux administration and shell scripting, Java development, VSAM, high-availability systems, performance engineering, cloud-hosted platforms, legacy modernization, and regulated financial services.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks is preferred.
