Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and daily operation of cloud data platforms, including workspace and project architecture, access models, capacity planning, configuration standards, and troubleshooting.
- Define and enforce naming, tagging, access, cost-management, and environment-separation standards.
- Design, build, and own CI/CD workflows for data and analytics assets, including branching, promotion, approvals, rollback, reusable templates, and release documentation.
- Serve as the technical authority for a core cloud data platform and a BI platform while enabling engineering and client teams with reusable patterns and guardrails.
- Diagnose and resolve query, job, refresh, and capacity issues and improve platform performance.
- Design monitoring and alerting, establish relevant SLOs, reduce operational toil, and maintain runbooks and escalation procedures.
- Lead incident triage, resolution, post-incident reviews, and preventative remediation.
- Define and enforce least-privilege access, secure secret handling, PII controls, row- and column-level security, and environment separation.
- Review other engineers’ work for security and governance before delivery to clients.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, analytics engineering, or cloud operations with a track record of owning production platforms.
- At least 2 years of representative accounting experience through accounting-system implementation or direct accounting work.
- Deep production experience with Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or Databricks, with working fluency across the others.
- Strong experience with Power BI or Tableau, including data modeling, security, and refresh architecture.
- Experience owning CI/CD, Git, branching and pull request practices, and building deployment pipelines.
- Solid scripting skills in Python or PowerShell.
- Advanced troubleshooting and the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong SQL and performance skills, including indexing, partitioning, query plans, and capacity tuning.
- Working knowledge of cloud identity and access, resource organization, logging, and monitoring.
- Ability to write clear runbooks, standards, and architecture documentation.
- Relevant Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar certifications are preferred.
- Hands-on AI/ML/GenAI enablement experience, including model lifecycle work, AI Search, Azure OpenAI integration, or MLOps, is preferred.

- Compensation varies by location; stated ranges include $112,800-$153,700 in Colorado, $124,100-$169,100 in Washington, Illinois, New York, and Southern California, and $129,800-$176,800 in Northern California.
