Base Salary

$131k - $181k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and enhance kernel-level and system-level operating system technologies.
  • Provide technical leadership for QNX Kernel and Core OS research and development initiatives.
  • Influence operating system architecture, design, performance, reliability, security, safety, and scalability.
  • Create software specifications and designs addressing complex customer and industry requirements.
  • Implement high-quality, performant, and reliable code across critical operating system subsystems.
  • Collaborate in design and code reviews and maintain high engineering standards.
  • Develop and execute automated unit tests.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues across hardware and software layers.
  • Estimate and plan requirements, design, implementation, and testing efforts.

Requirements

  • Strong expertise in C programming, particularly in resource-constrained and embedded environments.
  • Deep understanding of operating system fundamentals, including process and thread lifecycles, memory management, system calls, inter-process communication, scheduling, concurrency, and resource management.
  • Experience with POSIX-based operating systems and multicore, multithreaded, and real-time system architectures.
  • Exceptional debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: experience developing QNX system-level software such as resource managers, system services, or development tools.
  • Preferred: performance tuning, memory analysis, profiling, and post-mortem debugging experience.
  • Preferred: experience with Git, SVN, GNU development toolchains, Assembly, ARM, x86, compiler technologies, and optimization techniques.
  • Preferred: deep embedded and real-time operating systems expertise and strong software architecture, analysis, and design knowledge.

Benefits

  • 40 scheduled hours per week in a regular position.
  • Base salary range of $131,250.00 to $181,250.00 per year, with additional eligibility for the BlackBerry Variable Incentive Pay program.
