Base Salary
$230k - $276k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate distributed backend services and APIs supporting shared platforms used by product teams worldwide.
- Own services end to end from architecture and implementation through observability, reliability, production operations, and continuous improvement.
- Define clear contracts, SLOs, and guardrails for internal platform consumers.
- Collaborate with data, ML, and infrastructure engineers to turn models, datasets, and lower-level components into robust internal products.
- Lead 0→1 and modernization initiatives, make pragmatic technical trade-offs, and establish technical standards for high-leverage systems.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering reviews, technical discussions, hiring, and raising the engineering bar.
Requirements
- Solid experience as a backend or platform engineer owning production systems across design, implementation, operations, and evolution.
- Demonstrated experience with distributed systems at scale and building APIs or microservices on modern cloud infrastructure.
- Experience building or supporting platform-level services relied upon by multiple engineering teams.
- Ability to operate in ambiguous, fast-changing environments and drive 0→1 technical decisions with a long-term perspective.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across disciplines and locations.
- Preferred: experience with data, ML, or AI infrastructure such as experimentation, model serving, or ML platforms.
- Preferred: experience in regulated or safety-critical domains where reliability, compliance, and auditability are essential.
- Preferred: experience at fast-growing global technology companies designing systems across products, markets, and regulatory environments.
- Preferred: experience mentoring engineers and contributing to reviews, technical discussions, and hiring.
