Responsibilities
- Shape the technical direction of a small, high-impact team while remaining hands-on in design, implementation, and code review.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through pair programming, code reviews, technical guidance, and architectural discussions.
- Write production-quality C++ and Python for mission-critical systems and promote engineering excellence across large codebases.
- Prototype software solutions and guide them from research and simulation through deployed tactical implementation.
- Develop high-performance software spanning tactical systems and web applications.
- Use high-fidelity modeling, simulation, analysis tools, and analytical techniques to quantify technology benefits.
- Lead technical interchange meetings, sprint planning, and customer engagements.
- Own the software development lifecycle and navigate complex technical trade-offs.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/work experience.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership while remaining a hands-on individual contributor.
- Experience working with large, complex codebases in collaborative teams.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
- Direct air and missile defense experience, such as multi-target tracking, sensor fusion, threat classification, kill chain development, or command-and-control systems including IBCS, Patriot, Aegis, or similar programs.
- Experience with big data, NoSQL, and database technologies.
- Knowledge of software design, algorithm implementation, software analysis, testing, and optimization.
- Knowledge of differential equations, linear algebra, optimization, statistics, and random processes.
- Knowledge of controls, estimation theory, and digital signal processing.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance.
- Preferred: experience leading small teams or technical workstreams, growing engineers through mentorship and coaching, asynchronous/parallel/GPU programming, and deploying software to tactical or edge environments.
