Responsibilities
- Improve backend application stability, scalability, operability, and performance through modern engineering practices.
- Implement solutions across the full delivery lifecycle, including impact assessment, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Reduce operational toil through automation, diagnostics, performance tuning, and incident-resolution improvements.
- Define and use SLIs, SLOs, dashboards, alerts, and tracing strategies for reliability and observability.
- Apply DevSecOps practices and comply with IT risk, governance, secure configuration, auditability, and change-control requirements.
- Lead or guide developers, establish consistent engineering standards, and deliver sustainable changes in a distributed global team.
Requirements
- Experience with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and RESTful API design and implementation.
- Experience with Linux or UNIX, shell scripting, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub, and Ansible.
- Knowledge of CI/CD patterns including build, test, deploy, and rollback.
- Experience with Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Tempo, and observability or reliability practices.
- Experience with Oracle or an equivalent enterprise relational database and PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of database and service performance tuning, including indexes, query plans, connection pooling, and latency analysis.
- Ability to lead developers, solve problems under pressure, document work effectively, and manage multiple deadlines.
- Preferred qualifications include HSBC ITSO experience, investment banking or CCR familiarity, architecture experience, GCP or AWS experience or certifications, Python or Jupyter experience, and engineering community contributions.
