Responsibilities
- Guide technical strategy and vision across Sports, News, and Developer Platform.
- Architect globally scalable systems optimized for latency, availability, throughput, cost, and observability.
- Drive system stability through monitoring, automated alerting, and proactive incident response.
- Establish standards for APIs, coding practices, CI/CD, model monitoring, governance, and responsible AI.
- Mentor senior, staff, and principal engineers and lead cross-alliance design reviews and decision records.
- Influence roadmaps and OKRs across Sports, News, and Developer Platform.
- Partner with product, editorial, engineering, and data science teams to translate sports and news experiences into measurable ML initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a comparable field, and/or equivalent work experience.
- 15+ years of experience building large-scale consumer systems.
- Experience at technology companies with advanced AI capabilities and large-scale consumer-facing products.
- Broad experience spanning infrastructure through native applications, with the ability to own end-to-end architecture.
- Demonstrated success setting engineering standards and leading cross-functional initiatives at organizational scale.
- Advanced proficiency in API design, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native infrastructure.
- Experience managing technical roadmaps and aligning cross-functional teams to organizational objectives.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to simplify complex technical concepts.
- Preferred experience with sports, news, or event-centric products and their scale and traffic patterns.
- Preferred success defining platform-wide standards, influencing alliance-level decisions, mentoring senior engineering talent, and applying machine learning to engagement and retention.
