Responsibilities
- Design and implement highly scalable backend endpoints.
- Gather product requirements and write design documents.
- Drive the full software development lifecycle from requirements and architecture through development, quality assurance, and maintenance.
- Develop highly available and scalable services with appropriate monitoring and alerting.
- Own projects from start to finish and break large projects into deliverable tasks.
- Mentor teammates and share engineering best practices.
- Communicate development progress with product, engineering, and other stakeholders.
- Investigate performance improvements and introduce new technologies or ideas when needed.
- Collaborate effectively with global cross-functional teams and participate in team meetings and feedback processes.
Requirements
- At least five years of industry experience in backend development, including three to four years in senior positions.
- Experience developing large-scale distributed web applications.
- Experience with database modeling using SQL or NoSQL databases.
- Experience using and designing RESTful services.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and other computer science fundamentals.
- Ability to write comprehensible, well-structured, and highly performant code.
- Communication, problem-solving, proactivity, collaboration, listening, creativity, organization, planning, ownership, and comfort with ambiguity.
- Experience leveraging AI tools for code generation, debugging, and software development productivity.
- A BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar field is nice to have, along with experience with GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, MongoDB, Redis, Ruby on Rails, microservices, or machine learning.
