Senior Software Engineer-Backend

Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend services across the customer vehicle purchase journey using clean, well-tested, production-quality code.
- Design and implement performant, maintainable APIs, data models, and service logic.
- Build reliable, well-abstracted integration layers for valuation services, lender platforms, logistics APIs, and factory systems.
- Apply distributed-systems patterns including error handling, retries, idempotency, and observability.
- Own features end to end from scoping and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production monitoring.
- Participate in code reviews and design reviews while sharing knowledge and maintaining a high engineering bar.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, partner teams, and external providers to deliver solutions for customer needs.
- Improve documentation, testing standards, on-call processes, and the reliability of owned systems.
- Use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully and share effective practices with teammates.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
- At least 5 years of software development experience focused on backend technologies.
- Proficiency in one of Go, Node.js, Python, Java, or Ruby.
- Experience with relational and/or non-relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
- Experience with identity-management systems such as Azure AD, AWS Cognito, LDAP, Okta, or Keyclock, plus directory services for authentication and user management.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Nice-to-have experience includes AI/ML platform foundations or developer AI tooling, automotive, mobility, retail, ecommerce, or digital consumer products, and multi-tenant platforms or shared enterprise services.
