
Staff Software Engineer I, Mobile

Responsibilities
- Own team architecture, provide system-wide design guidance, decompose architectures into components, and make sound technical tradeoffs.
- Design efficient, stable, extensible architectures aligned with strategic vision, non-functional requirements, and future product needs.
- Use AI to validate architectural decisions and create AI-augmented workflows such as code generation and incident analysis.
- Establish team guardrails for secure, compliant, correct, and responsible AI usage.
- Drive organization-wide engineering best practices, technical-debt reduction, and codebase improvements.
- Influence and deliver large cross-team projects while anticipating and removing execution barriers.
- Partner with design to define a mobile design system and UX heuristics.
- Own mobile CI/CD, the app release process, and SDK and framework upgrades.
- Turn vision into strategy and strategy into sequenced objectives in ambiguous situations.
- Share architectural improvements across the technology organization and build implementation buy-in.
- Develop cross-functional and stakeholder relationships and balance short- and long-term needs.
- Mentor and develop engineers across the organization and empower them to achieve ambitious goals.
- Lead escalations and high-stakes investigations while driving systemic reliability improvements.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience as a software engineer.
- At least 5 years of cumulative experience or exposure developing mobile apps with Flutter and Dart and with React Native and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience using AI for architectural exploration and validation, designing AI-augmented engineering workflows, and establishing quality and safety guardrails.
- A proactive, collaborative leadership style.
- A track record of technical leadership and creating clarity from ambiguity.
- Candidates must be based in the NYC metro area or able to relocate independently within 90 days of starting.
