Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, QA, product designers, and support teams to deliver backend solutions.
- Document, develop, refactor, deploy, and operate APIs, customer-facing components, and internal interfaces.
- Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Java, Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate, and SQL.
- Optimize backend systems for performance, scalability, and reliability, and investigate production issues and bottlenecks.
- Participate in and guide technical design, code reviews, architecture decisions, and complex projects.
- Maintain the security and integrity of systems and data through encryption, authentication, and authorization practices.
- Mentor and provide constructive feedback to other engineers through collaboration and code reviews.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience as a Backend Engineer.
- At least 3 years of experience owning production services, including development, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support.
- Advanced English proficiency and flexibility to collaborate with teams and customers in US time zones.
- Heavy hands-on experience with JPA/Hibernate ORM and plain SQL.
- Strong expertise in Java 21 and proficiency with Spring Boot 3/4.
- Experience using AI coding agents such as Cursor, Codex, or Claude Code.
- Experience debugging production systems, working with relational databases, and designing system architecture.
- Experience leading complex projects from a technical perspective and adapting quickly to new frameworks and concepts.
- Preferred experience includes LLM integration, message brokers, GCP or AWS, Python Django or FastAPI, Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, distributed systems, CI/CD pipelines, and mentoring junior engineers.
- Located in Tashkent, Uzbekistan; candidates in Eastern European or Central Asian regions are especially sought.
