Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end application development across planning, design, building, testing, release, and operations.
  • Drive technical architecture and design for scalable distributed application platforms.
  • Build and enhance capabilities supporting SAS Viya and Databricks, including integrations, automation, onboarding, configuration, environment management, migrations, and governed access.
  • Partner with product managers, architects, site reliability engineers, and stakeholders to define requirements, roadmaps, epics, user stories, and technical deliverables.
  • Establish engineering standards for coding, APIs, testing, documentation, security controls, peer review, and automation.
  • Lead modernization, refactoring, re-platforming, performance optimization, and technical-debt reduction initiatives.
  • Drive CI/CD, release engineering, observability, operational readiness, incident remediation, and reliability improvements.
  • Use delivery, quality, telemetry, incident, and usage data to prioritize improvements and measure outcomes.
  • Coach engineers, provide technical leadership, and promote AI-assisted engineering practices with appropriate validation standards.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Experience building and supporting production-grade services with ownership of reliability, operational readiness, and root-cause remediation.
  • Experience with cloud and containerized platforms, Kubernetes, infrastructure and service automation, and modern deployment practices.
  • Experience leading cross-functional incident, problem, and change activities.
  • Experience with SAS Viya, Databricks applications, Kubernetes, user onboarding, migrations, troubleshooting, incident management, and change management.
  • Experience with SDLC toolchains covering source control, CI/CD, artifact management, scanning, observability, and authorized AI-assisted development capabilities.
  • Preferred experience with full-stack development, DevOps practices, service ownership models, reliability metrics, data or analytics platforms, enterprise CI/CD, release management, code quality and security scanning, distributed-system performance engineering, capacity planning, and production tuning.
  • AWS certification or equivalent cloud credentials is preferred.
  • Exposure to modern web frameworks for user-interface development and end-to-end troubleshooting is preferred.
