Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a small development team through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.
- Own technical delivery and technical decisions across Java backends, front-end interfaces, databases, APIs, and integrations.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications using Java 8 and Java EE/J2EE.
- Work with MVC architectures, Servlets, EJBs, DAOs, DTOs, JPA, Hibernate, JDBC, and SQL.
- Build and support web services and integrations using Jersey and JAX-RS.
- Support applications deployed on WildFly, JBoss, Apache TomEE, or similar application servers.
- Maintain web interfaces using jQuery, Bootstrap, and DataTables.
- Troubleshoot application, database, integration, and performance issues across the technology stack.
- Partner with Product, Architecture, and QA teams to plan work, estimate effort, and translate complex requirements into maintainable solutions.
- Balance modernization with enterprise system stability, security, reliability, and appropriate data-handling practices.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of hands-on experience developing Java 8 and Java EE/J2EE applications.
- Proven experience leading, mentoring, or providing technical direction to development teams.
- Strong understanding of MVC architecture and enterprise application design.
- Hands-on experience with EJBs, Servlets, JPA/Hibernate, JDBC, and DAO/DTO patterns.
- Strong front-end development experience with jQuery, Bootstrap, and DataTables.
- Strong SQL and relational database experience, preferably with MySQL and/or Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience building and consuming web APIs.
- Experience with Java application servers such as WildFly, JBoss, TomEE, or similar.
- Experience with Maven and/or ANT, Git, and GitHub.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to understand complex technical and business domains.
- Product Lifecycle Management experience and experience in regulated industries, manufacturing, life sciences, or formula-based product environments are desirable.
- Exposure to AWS RDS, DocumentDB, Neo4j, OpenText Discovery Server/BRS, BIRT Reports, AWS-hosted applications, C#/.NET integrations, or mature enterprise Java modernization is desirable.
