Responsibilities
- Architect and develop firmware and microcontroller subsystems for SoC and systems products.
- Implement major differentiating features for Astera Labs products.
- Develop on-chip microcontroller firmware and C-based SDKs for system management controllers.
- Work with logic designers to architect and verify hardware-software interfaces on complex SoCs.
- Debug PCIe protocol issues using analyzers and exercisers.
- Automate firmware preprocessing, postprocessing, and quality-control activities with Python.
- Support customer-facing technical engagements and prepare for customer meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience supporting or developing complex SoC or silicon products for server, storage, and/or networking applications.
- Experience developing firmware for on-chip microcontrollers and C-language SDKs for system management controllers such as BMCs.
- Experience architecting and verifying hardware-software interfaces on complex SoCs with logic designers.
- Experience with PCIe Express Gen 3 or later, including analyzers and exercisers for protocol debugging.
- High proficiency in C or C++, including C-based SDK development, and Python for automation and firmware quality control.
- Working knowledge of software and firmware build environments, gcc, Make, Doxygen, and GitHub.
- Familiarity with PCIe, DDR, NVMe, AMBA/AHB, and on-chip memory interfaces.
- Preferred experience with PAM4 SerDes, Tx/Rx equalization, adaptation, CDR, and SerDes link budgets.
- Preferred hands-on experience with PCIe devices in server, storage, or networking equipment and embedded firmware for PCIe or Ethernet switch products.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to start immediately.
