- Build self-service database provisioning for product teams and replace manual runbooks with automation.
- Plan and execute zero- or near-zero-downtime migrations, upgrades, and table moves across versions, clusters, and clouds.
- Partner with developers on schema changes, queries, connection pooling, transaction scope, retries, idempotency, and expand-and-contract migrations.
- Define SLOs and build alerts and dashboards to identify latency and capacity issues.
- Design backup and recovery processes and conduct scheduled restore and failover tests measuring RTO and RPO.
- Optimize database instance and storage costs while maintaining requirements.
- Implement least-privilege access, secrets management, encryption, auditability, and PII masking.

- Deep production PostgreSQL experience, including MVCC, vacuum and bloat, locking, physical and logical replication, and query planning.
- Hands-on infrastructure as code experience with version-controlled, peer-reviewed changes.
- Daily experience delivering infrastructure and database changes, including schema migrations, through CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience designing high availability and disaster recovery with replication, automated failover, multi-region or multi-cloud redundancy, and RTO/RPO trade-offs.
- Experience with zero-downtime changes such as online migrations, major-version upgrades, or moving data between clusters.
- Understanding of application-database interactions, including connection pools, ORMs such as Hibernate, transaction scope, retries, idempotency, and deployment order.
- Observability experience defining measurements, alerting on SLOs, and validating changes with data.
- Scripting experience in Python, Bash, or Go for operational automation.
- Comfort working in a regulated financial services environment with strict access control, encryption, and audit requirements.
- Clear communication and collaborative partnership with developers.
