Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of scalable, maintainable machine learning datasets and models, including design, building, deployment, evaluation, and evolution.
- Build lightweight data pipelines and dbt tables that transform raw data sources into model-ready data without owning heavy ETL infrastructure.
- Develop ML applications for property-level risk, cost assessment, insured-level prediction, portfolio aggregation, and aerial image analysis.
- Deploy and monitor models in production, tracking quality, bias, accuracy, performance, and business impact.
- Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to architecture, tooling, and ML strategy across the Kafka, AWS EKS, Python, Django/FastAPI, and Postgres stack.
- Partner with Engineering, Product, Operations, and Business teams to build reliable solutions for real-world problems.
- Operate autonomously as a technical owner and help identify new opportunities where ML can improve products and operations.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience applying machine learning methods to production problems.
- Ability to work in complex codebases and own end-to-end model deployment.
- Experience taking raw, previously unexplored data through lightweight pipelines or dbt tables, feature engineering, modeling, and deployment.
- Product-oriented business judgment, scientific rigor, and the ability to evaluate model quality and business impact.
- Preferred experience as a team lead or with end-to-end deployment ownership.
- Actuarial experience or experience applying models to risk evaluation and aggregation is preferred.
- Experience in computer vision and image analysis is preferred.
- Experience with dbt or similar modern data transformation tools is preferred.
